Recently, Fortnite added a new Tomatohead skin to the game, and while some fans may have found this skin creepy, it seems like just a little fun on Epic’s part. It also joined the Tricera Ops and Leviathan as skins discovered through recent datamining efforts, but these dataminers couldn’t have found one minor but controversial detail about the latest skin.
Originally noticed by Redditor Falchion_Alpha, it appears that the pizza on the Tomatohead torso has pineapples. For those who are unaware, the collective internet has never come to a consensus whether pineapples belong on pizza or not. Several memes have come out of this on-going debate, and it appears that the Fortnite devs are showing their support for the forbidden fruit. Check it out below:
The community’s reaction to this discovery is rather humorous, with some players stating that it’s time to cancel Fortnite for the year and declaring it “literally” unplayable. Pineapple enthusiasts also weighed in, suggesting Drake’s recent comment that pineapples belong on pizza is one reason it was added to the game. Whatever the reason, Epic’s decision to include pineapples on the pizza has caused a bit of a stir in the community.
Notably, the Redditor who discovered the pineapples suggested a solid way to end the debate for good: a 50 v 50 with the better pizza ideology emerging as the winner. Of course, this is all in good fun (hopefully), as Fortnite isn’t often involved in controversies. Recently, there has been a bit of an issue with the weapon swapping changes, but still, controversy remains far and few between in the battle royale and survival game.
At the end of the day, though, even those who despise the notion of pineapples on pizza will most likely continue to the play the game. After all, Fortnite players are often recognized – good or ill – for their dedication to the game, as one gamer even continued to play during a tornado. While it seems that the devs support pineapples on pizza, it will most likely continue to be a hilarious issue in- and out- of game.
Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
