On Tuesday, the Destiny 2 Warmind Twitch reveal stream revealed a lot about what gamers can expect from Destiny 2‘s latest expansion. The stream (and following promotional material) revealed the name of the new raid lair, how quest tracking will be improved, Crucible ranking details, and new exotics, amongst other things. Not everything was outright revealed by Bungie, though, with a few details being uncovered by players digging through new footage.
The Destiny 2 Warmind prologue trailer shows how a new character, Ana Bray, will be leading guardians through a quest on Mars, and the teaser trailer also indicates that guardians will be facing Hive in Hellas Basin on Mars. The Mars map posted on the Destiny 2 Reddit page does not show many details about possible quests, but it does show the five main patrol areas, as well as the size of Mars, which seems to be similar to that of Titan, or possibly even a bit bigger than Titan in Destiny 2.
The map also indicates that there will be 45 collectibles for Guardians to find on Mars, but there might turn out to be more, as Destiny 2 fans have rightly noted that a lot of the map seems hidden, just like the EDZ map is hidden until players start doing the patrols and quests in the area. Fans have also noted that Mars may be bigger than what the map indicates, as there are areas on other planets that are available for exploration but not necessarily on the map.
Despite a lot of criticism surrounding Destiny 2 and mistakes that Bungie made in the game previously, fans nevertheless seem excited about the new expansion for the game, especially after more details have been revealed during the Twitch reveal stream on Tuesday. We have yet to see how the expansion will be received by fans, though, and whether this expansion will finally turn Destiny 2 into the game that players wanted from Bungie all this time.
Destiny 2 Warmind is available for pre-order now and will be released on May 8th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
