Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery How to Get House Points

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery How to Get House Points

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now, and it tasks players with being a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. One of the main goals in the game is to earn house points and win the House Cup, which will net players a whopping 100 gems if they’re successful. However, earning (and keeping) house points isn’t necessarily as straightforward as one may think.

There are three main ways players will earn house points in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Perhaps the most obvious way to earn house points is by progressing through the main storyline, as they will be given as a reward after certain events. However, players should note that house points will also sometimes be taken away because of story developments as well.

The second way to earn house points in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is by doing well in school through successfully completing lessons and challenges. The house points earned through schoolwork can still be taken away through events outside the player’s control (like when it happens in the story), but they can also be lost when the player does badly. Considering this, players should make sure they’re properly prepared before tackling any lessons in-game.

Finally, the third way players can earn house points in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is by selecting dialogue choices that reflect the value of whatever house they belong to. For the uninitiated, Hogwarts students are separated into four distinct houses:  Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. Gryffindor’s values are Brave and Daring; Slytherin’s are Ambitious and Cunning; Hufflepuff’s are Dedicated and Loyal; and finally, Ravenclaw’s values are Intelligent and Witty.

To recap, here are the three ways players can earn house points in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery:

  1. Complete story quests
  2. Successfully complete schoolwork and challenges
  3. Select dialogue choices that reflect the value of their house

Again, keep in mind that house points can be lost if players break the rules or perform poorly, and those lost points can’t be regained. Players will simply have to get new house points to replace them. The actions of other students will also influence the house points in-game, but as long as players avoid the wrath of the Hogwarts teachers and generally perform well, they should have no problem winning the House Cup at the end of the year.

Progress toward the House Cup can be checked at any time, and it’s definitely worth the trouble to win it. As previously stated, winning the House Cup in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will leave players with 100 gems, which happen to be one of the in-game currencies. Gems can in turn be used to refill the energy meter, which governs every major action in the game, and can help players progress much easier.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
