The final week of season 2 is here, which means that Destiny 2 players have only the next seven days to wrap up any lingering quests and activities. This also means that players have only a limited amount of time to earn any remaining Season 2 specific rewards including ornaments from the Vanguard, Trials of the Nine, Crucible, or raids. Thankfully, for those who may have missed out on any Iron Banner ornaments for season 2, Lord Saladin has returned to the Tower to give players one final chance to finish any event-specific tasks.
Season 3 kicks off at the next weekly reset, bringing with it plenty of new features and fixes as well as the second Destiny 2 expansion known as Warmind. This content takes players to a new location on Mars known as Hellas Basin, where the warmind Rasputin has reawoken due to the melting of the polar ice caps. A side effect of this has been the emergence of a new type of Hive that appears to have been infused with ice, creating a terrifying new enemy for players to battle.
Alongside Iron Banner, the weekly Destiny 2 reset has also arrived, providing one last hurrah for season 2 players. Follow the guide below for a complete look at everything to do for the week of May 1, 2018, including the updated Leviathan Raid order, details on the new Nightfall strike, the Flashpoint location, and everything else.
Nightfall Strike: Savathun’s Song
Nightfall Reward: Duty Bound (Legendary Auto Rifle)
It’s fitting that season 2 ends with one of the most used strikes as the Nightfall with Savathun’s Song. However, the difference this time around is that the Nightfall Reward is Duty Bonud, an auto rifle that the community seems to be pretty excited about.
Naturally, Savathun’s Song takes players back to Titan inside the Solarium to confront the Hive. The first phase of this mission tasks players with working together to defend Ghost as he removes the wards from a nearby door. During that time, the fireteam faces off against waves of enemies. Beyond that, the team then needs to find and destroy numerous void crystals in order to progress while facing the likes of powerful Hive enemies such as Wizards, Ogres, and Knights.
The combat-heavy strike finishes by pitting the fireteam against Savathun’s Song, a giant Shrieker. Unlike most shriekers, this one teleports around the room while reinforcements continually flood the area. During this time, players should focus on the adds to clear them out which in turn creates opportunities to attack the boss. At 50% health, two Ogres enter the battle, and then at 25%, Savathun’s Song gains a light shield. Players will then need to find and destroy a nearby void crystal to drop the shield, finish off the boss, and complete the mission.
Flashpoint Location: Mercury
For non-DLC owners, season 2 is going out with a whimper as the Flashpoint milestone is located on Mercury. For players without Curse of Osiris, they won’t be able to partake. For everyone else, they’ll need to head to the small space and find Crossroads public events to join in. After a certain number of completions, return to Cayde-6 at the Tower to earn his Luminous Engram which holds powerful gear.
The smaller location also means that the treasure maps for this week are in short supply. For Curse of Osiris players, speak to Cayde in the Tower and purchase the maps he has for sale. Doing so will cause treasure map icons to appear on the minimap once on Mercury. As always, treasure varies wildly, so players can expect to see anything from rare gear, tokens, and shaders to unique emblems and exotic engrams.
Here’s a quick guide to both chest locations for this week:
The reset also shuffles around the Leviathan Raid encounter order. While this not only helps to keep the experience fresh for veteran players, it also helps players new to the experience get used to the Raid while also giving them an opportunity to play each part even if struggling.
A fitting way to wrap up the second season, the raid challenge for this week is centered on Calus, the last phase of the activity. Don’t forget to consult our guide for tips, tricks, and a walkthrough for how to easily finish it.
Raid order for May 1:
Call to Arms – Win glory by participating, getting kills, and finishing PvP matches from either the Quickplay or Competitive playlists. Finish the milestone and return to Shaxx to earn his weekly engram.
Weekly Crucible Playlist – 6v6 Iron Banner Control
Heroic Strikes – Complete 3 heroic strikes.
For players looking for more of a challenge when playing strikes, the Heroic Strikes playlist is the way to go in Destiny 2. Players above the minimum recommended power level of 270 have an opportunity to score better loot at the end of the mission. Complete three of these this week to earn a powerful loot engram.
And that’s all for this week. Good luck, Guardians!
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
