Pokemon GO fans have a lot to be excited about this week. The start of May kicks off a new Breakthrough Research reward, a Battle Showdown event, and some shakeups to the Field Research quests and their rewards. That’s a lot of information to digest, but we’ve got it covered.
The Pokemon GO community has seen Field Research quests shift during Community Day events, but this is first non-event change to quests being offered and their respective rewards. We covered the original encounter rewards when the new system launched, but this update warrants revisiting the possible encounter rewards for each quest.
Luckily, the Reddit community has delivered once again, with a helpful visual guide showcasing every possible encounter reward for each of the existing and new Field Research quests.

After a quest is collected, players can check to see if the reward will be an item or an encounter. At this point, encounters are marked with a quest mark, so there’s no way to know what the possible rewards are without memorizing them or double checking this sort of resource. Sometimes a quest may not be worth the trouble if the player isn’t interested in any of the possible rewards.
As new quests continue to be added, or as rewards rotate, we’ll post updates about which encounters are currently available. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
