Destiny 2: How to Farm the Mindbenders Ambition Shotgun

Now that Destiny 2 has introduced random weapon perk rolls back into the game, players have begun searching for the best in each archetype. Moreover, they want to discover easy ways to farm those weapons in order to get the best rolls for specific archetypes.

When it comes to energy/secondary shotguns, one of the best is the Mindbender’s Ambition. It is a Nightfall Strike exclusive drop from the Hollowed Lair strike and it is fairly easy to farm.

Farming the Hollowed Lair strike doesn’t require much in the way of preparation. As soon as players defeat the Fanatic at the end of the strike, they wait until the rewards chest opens, and then detonate themselves with a rocket and the boss fight will start again.

Once Destiny 2 players respawn they should see whether a legendary engram (purple) has dropped from the chest. They can then pick up whatever loot did drop from the chest, kill the Fanatic, and repeat the process again.

The concept of the boss kill followed by a quick death is nothing new for Destiny and has become one of the more popular farming methods. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of bosses that allow for such a scenario. It’s presumably why Bungie put in the strike chest as the loot source, so players would have to wait and see what drops and by then there is no time to reset. It just turns out that the Hollowed Lair strike works a little differently.

Mindbender’s Ambition is one of the more popular shotgun choices because of its high impact. Ideally, players will want to get a perk like Slideshot on the Mindbender’s Ambition shotgun to help boost the range. But even so, with the way Crucible favors loadouts with shotguns, the Mindbender’s Ambition is worth farming.

Of course, those Destiny 2 players that have completed their Luna’s Howl quest (or the improved version called Not Forgotten) won’t be able to use Mindbender’s Ambition. For those players we recommend Dust Rock Blues, a primary shotgun that they can farm from lost sector WANTED bosses.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
