There’s no question that many consider Ubisoft’s forthcoming first-person shooter Far Cry 5 to be one of the most highly anticipated video games in 2018, with a plethora of fans excited at the prospect of finally returning to a mainline entry after 2016’s Primal. Now, the publisher and developer has decided to ramp up promotion of the series’ forthcoming fifth entry by releasing a brand new story trailer that showcases the game’s dangerous doomsday cult, Eden’s Gate, alongside some brutally violent gameplay.
As seen below in Far Cry 5‘s story trailer, fans of the first-person shooter franchise are given the chance to get better acquainted with the game’s main antagonist, Joseph Seed – leader of the aforementioned fanatical religious sect. With his “God given” gifts, the villain displays an arrogant egotism tinged with narcissistic delusions of grandeur, as he terrorizes the fictional area of Hope County, Montana by forcing many to become followers in his cult, and killing those who don’t comply with his demands.
The latest Far Cry 5 trailer also offers an even closer look at the first-person shooter’s gameplay mechanics, showing off some brutal combat that involves firearms such as handguns, assault rifles, flamethrowers, and rocket launchers. What’s more is that players will be able to commandeer many vehicles in the world to help take out the bloodthirsty members of Eden’s Gate, as there are planes to be piloted, big rigs to be driven, and combine harvesters that can turn enemies into mincemeat. Not to mention, there’s even a bear that mauls bad guys to death.
For those unaware, Far Cry 5 was originally slated to be released this month, but was delayed until March due to Ubisoft wanting to implement some additional improvements in order to ensure that fans will receive the most polished game possible that falls “in line with the team’s original vision.” Although many were disappointed to learn that the initial launch date was pushed back, many will likely be content with the wait should the final product’s quality be on par with that of the title’s story trailer.
Far Cry 5 is set to launch on March 27, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
