The big day that many Destiny 2 fans have been waiting for is finally here. Today marks not only the beginning of Season 3, but the launch of Warmind, the second downloadable content expansion that adds all sorts of new content including a new campaign, a new location on Mars known as Helles Basin, the Escalation Protocol event, and a new raid as well. Warmind introduces players to Ana Bray, a legendary hunter investigating the recent activity on Mars stemming from the warmind Rasputin.
Alongside the new story mission, season 3 of Destiny 2 adds a bunch of content players have been asking for. Private matches are finally making a return as well as other Crucible updates including new maps and two brand new ranking systems for the Casual and Competitive playlists. Players can rank up in each, earn new titles, gear, and get a shot at the seasonal weapon called Redrix’s Claymore. Of course, what would a new season be without new loot? New and revamped exotics make their debut in Destiny 2 including the once almighty Suros Regime.
While there’s certainly plenty of new content to get to, don’t forget that the weekly reset for Destiny 2 has also arrived. In between battling on Mars, this guide tells you everything you need to know during the week of May 8 including the updated Leviathan Raid order, details on the new Nightfall strike, the Flashpoint location, and everything else.
Nightfall Strike: The Arms Dealer
Nightfall Reward: (Coming Soon)
Even though there’s new content out today, the Nightfall returns to the familiar stomping grounds of Bracus Zahn in The Arms Dealer strike. Oddly enough, this strike was just recently featured only a few weeks ago, so the experience should be pretty familiar to players.
Taking place on Earth, players will be essentially jumping into a battle between the Cabal and Fallen forces. Players can decide to take part in the battle or try and work their way through. Keep in mind that during these initial phases players will come up against a Colossus and Siege Tank, which will likely hinder progress without directly engaging. With tracking down Zahn as the main goal, players will also need to plant charges around the ship, while also fighting through waves of enemies.
Eventually, the elusive Zahn will appear, taunting the fireteam and using turrets to slow them down. Continue running through the level and eventually, players will reach the main platform at the top of the ship. The room is fairly large with plenty of cover to utilize if need be as waves of enemies and automated turrets assist Zahn. Ultimately, continue chipping away at his health, use cover, and disable his shields as quickly as possible to finally end the fight and earn those rewards.
Flashpoint Location: Nessus
After a week of DLC-only content, the Flashpoint milestone once again opens up to everyone back on Nessus. For those who may be new to the game following the Warmind release, the Flashpoint is a weekly milestone quest which can be completed by taking part in public events on the featured planet. Each mission has a trigger, that when activated, increases the difficulty. Trigger the heroic modifier on each event to earn a little extra towards completing the quest.
The location also means Cayde has restocked his usual five treasure maps for players to purchase. Doing so will cause treasure map icons to appear on the minimap when visiting Nessus. Even with season 3, the potential treasure varies wildly ranging from rare gear, tokens, and shaders to unique emblems and exotic engrams.
As always, the Leviathan Raid encounter order has changed alongside the reset. Doing so each week not only helps to keep the experience fresh for veteran players, it also helps players new to the experience get used to the Raid as well as giving them an opportunity to play each part of it. With a new raid on the horizon, expect this section to grow in the coming weeks.
The raid challenge for this week is inside of the Royal Pools. Follow our guide to discover tips, tricks, and a walkthrough for how to easily finish the challenge.
Raid order for May 8:
Call to Arms – Win glory by participating, getting kills, and finishing PvP matches from any of the Crucible PvP playlists. Finish the milestone and return to Shaxx to earn his weekly engram.
Weekly Crucible Playlist – Rumble
Heroic Strikes – Complete 3 heroic strikes.
For players looking for more of a challenge when playing strikes, the Heroic Strikes playlist is the way to go in Destiny 2. Players above the minimum recommended power level of 270 have an opportunity to score better loot at the end of the mission. Complete three of these this week to earn a powerful loot engram.
And that’s all for this week. Good luck, Guardians!
