Destiny 2’s new Warmind DLC is finally here and while the launch seems to have gone off without a hitch, that hasn’t stopped players from looking for ways to “break” the game. Take the Wardcliff Coil glitch, for example, which offered a very useful workaround for players and was only finally patched out with the release of Warmind.
Exploits are rare in Destiny 2, but when they are found they typically offer a significant advantage. The latest discovery is similar to the Wardcliff Coil glitch in that it gives players a boost in the heavy ammo category, but in this case, it actually gives players a surplus of heavy.
The key to this glitch is the Rat King exotic sidearm, which received a buff with the Destiny 2 Warmind update. Post-update, players are given additional buffs when standing near teammates with the Rat King, starting with 1 fellow teammate and scaling from there. This glitch exploits those bonuses to give players extra Power Ammo in their reserves.
To do the glitch, players need to have Rat King equipped in the kinetic weapon slot. Then equip the power weapon that you want to add bonus ammo to. With that weapon equipped, walk back near your teammates to get a boost to the reserves for that power weapon.

While the Wardcliff Coil glitch became almost essential for higher difficulty activities, this Rat King glitch is more situational. Setting the glitch up will take more time than most will be willing to go through, and it requires using the Rat King as a primary weapon when they are superior options available.
Mostly we like to highlight these glitches for visibility on two fronts. One so that Destiny 2 players know what advantages others can have when trying to complete impressive feats in the game or going for World’s First on raids, like the new Spire of Stars raid lair that launches on Friday.
Second, and most importantly, shining a light on these exploits brings awareness to Bungie and helps increase the pressure to fix things. Depending on how easy this may be to tweak, Bungie could release a fix for the Rat King glitch before Friday.
Destiny 2: Warmind is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
