Another week and another controversy strikes Destiny 2. This week saw the second expansion pack known as Warmind arrive, bringing with it lots of new content from campaign missions, to new gameplay modes like Escalation Protocol, to brand new loot. Warmind also brings a new raid lair with it known as Spire of Stars, which Bungie has been hesitant to talk much about. Of course, the new raid also means new loot, which users may have discovered a disappointing truth about.
Over on Reddit, BrokenWho posted a link to all of the new Spire of Stars raid gear for each of the three Destiny 2 classes. Upon looking at the new gear, it was discovered that the pieces actually appear to be reskins of the Eater of Worlds raid gear, a surprising and disappointing revelation. These gear items also have their own season 3 ornament sets to collect as well, another confirmation that this gear is nothing more than a reskin of existing content.
While the disappointment can be felt in many of the comments under the original post, some are hoping that the gear in question is actually prestige raid lair gear for Eater of Worlds, rather than the normal Spire of Stars raid lair gear. Through the Destiny 2 database, users have discovered that two sets of gear are still listed as classified, meaning that the actual Spire of Stars gear could still be hidden or that both sets of prestige raid gear are still under wraps.
Either way, players won’t have to wait too long to find out the truth as the newest raid lair debuts today, kicking off the mad dash to be the first to clear it. Users were able to datamine new information on Spire of Stars earlier this week, which seems to have confirmed the return of one, Emperor Calus. While players will be able to experience the raid for themselves today, the datamined content seems to indicate that things pick up in the aftermath of Ghual’s defeat, with a new Red Legion leader attempting to take down the Emperor once and for all.
Destiny 2 Warmind is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
