Pokemon GO: How To Prepare For Charmander Community Day

Pokemon GO: How To Prepare For Charmander Community Day

Pokemon GO’s May Community Day event is only a few days a way, which means it’s time to start getting ready. All players need to do to participate is show up at a popular location during the three hour window, but knowing what to expect ahead of time will help Pokemon GO trainers maximize their value during the event.

For May, the featured Community Day pokemon is Charmander. The Gen 1 starter is a fan favorite and should draw out a serious crowd for the event. Here is everything players need to know to prepare for the big day…

Featured Pokemon

Charmander – Gen 1 Fire-type

Saturday, May 19

Start and End Times For Each Region

North America, South America, and Greenland: 11am to 2pm PST, 2pm to 5pm EST
Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India: 10am to 1pm UK (BST), 11am to 2pm CET
Asia Pacific: 12pm to 3pm JST

Special Move

The special move for this Community Day event has not been confirmed yet. Whatever the move is, make sure to evolve during the active time window if you want to secure it.

Trainers playing during the event will receive 3x Stardust when catching Pokémon. As with some previous events, there will also be 3-hour Lures.

Special Boxes

The Community Day boxes haven’t been released yet, but players can expect some kind of special deal on bundles of items just before, and during, the event.

Limited Time Field Research

Recent updates to the game’s code suggest that this Community Day, like last month’s, will temporarily offer special Field Research tasks that put an emphasis on the featured pokemon. Be sure to claim your rewards and clear out a space for these quests if you want to see them.

Shiny Variant

Niantic usually doesn’t confirm the shiny chance until after the event has started, but keep an eye out for a shiny while hunting. They’ve been a part of every other Community Day event, so we fully expect to see them on Saturday.

That’s everything we know at this point! Check back for updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
