Just yesterday, Microsoft Studios and Undead Lab officially revealed the release date and price point for the forthcoming survival title, State of Decay 2, while also giving PC and Xbox One fans looking forward to the project a heads up about a more in-depth look to come with a gameplay teaser. Now, the companies have made good on the promise by putting out 25 minutes of gameplay for the title, with the footage focusing primarily on its four-player cooperative features.
As seen below in the latest gameplay video for State of Decay 2 courtesy of IGN, the clip mostly centers around the type of combat fans should expect from the forthcoming release’s multiplayer, with the perspective shifting in between four separate party members battling plague zombies. In addition to the action in the field, the video also offers glimpses at the title’s survival aspects such as searching for equipment, as well as the differences between the dangers lurking in its day and night cycles.
While the majority of the above video delves into what State of Decay 2‘s weapons, combat, and gunplay will be like, Undead Labs has stated that the game will also include survival elements, base building, character progression, and resource management. The developer has promised these and other features will be shown off in more detail later on down the road with additional segments getting exclusive coverage from IGN all month long.
All things considered, State of Decay 2 definitely appears to be shaping up quite nicely, and so far looks to have improvements over the original in terms of its visuals and some of its mechanics. Of course, the survival title’s still a work-in-progress, so there’s no telling exactly how the final product will play once it becomes available later this year. Nevertheless, based on the materials shared thus far, it’s no wonder why many consider it to be one of the most exciting Xbox One exclusive games of 2018.
State of Decay 2 is set to release on May 22, 2018 for Xbox One and Windows PC.
