Will Nuketown Map Return for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4?

Will Nuketown Map Return for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4?

Hands down, Nuketown is one of the more popular multiplayer maps of the Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise, as the map exists with slight variations in each installment. Many may be wondering if the fan-favorite will be returning in Treyarch’s upcoming first-person shooter, and in truth, it seems a given. After all, multiplayer is a core tenant of the Call of Duty franchise, with the latest multiplayer trailer focusing on weapon tweaks, gameplay, and Specialist abilities.

Still, in a number of ways, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 sets itself apart from other installments, as it is the first to lack a traditional single-player campaign and include a battle royale mode. These distinctions alone give reason to question if Nuketown will be in the game or not, but fortunately, it does seem likely.

Recently, Adam Hoggatt tweeted a celebratory remark about his tenth anniversary at Treyarch, to which David Vonderhaar – the game’s director – replied with a solid tease of Nuketown’s presence in the upcoming Black Ops installment. As seen below, Vonderhaar alludes to the number of times Nuketown has been included and ends with an ellipsis to suggest a forthcoming Nuketown map.

Of course, this news should excite longstanding fans of the franchise, but considering it was just a tease, fans should take it with a minor grain of salt. It doesn’t really seem like the tease could reference anything else, but there’s nothing wrong with waiting for a solid confirmation. One thing players don’t need to wait for is confirmation that Black Ops 4 will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

While waiting for confirmation on the game’s multiplayer maps and the inclusion of Nuketown, many players may also be worried about how the game’s Blackout mode will affect the traditional multiplayer. As popular as battle royale has become, it’s unlikely to unseat the game’s multiplayer, especially if the longstanding fan-favorite Nuketown does return for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to release on October 12, 2018, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
