Destiny 2 Nightfall Exclusive Rewards Bugged

Destiny 2 Nightfall Exclusive Rewards Bugged

Destiny 2 players hoping to get the nightfall strike exclusive reward this week have been dealt a disappointing blow, as Bungie has confirmed drops are bugged. This week is a particularly disappointing week for things to be bugged, as the nightfall exclusive DFA hand cannon is a pretty popular choice for strike grinding enthusiasts.

While Nightfall Strike exclusive items are supposed to have a low drop weight, Destiny 2 players noticed that it was nearly impossible to acquire anything from last week’s Inverted Spire Nightfall and this week’s Tree of Probabilities. The outcry was so strong that Bungie decided to look into the issue.

After some investigating, Bungie determined that Nightfall Strike rewards tied to base Destiny 2 strikes and those added with the Curse of Osiris strikes are not dropping correctly. The developer does not say when a fix might go live but it is possible that the bug will remain until next week’s reset. So those hoping to grind this week’s Nightfall for the DFA could be out of luck.

Why Bungie didn’t discover the bug sooner comes down to the fact that new strikes included with the Warmind DLC update were not bugged. Week 1, which was the Arms Dealer Strike, most players didn’t care to farm for the reward, since it is only an exotic sparrow. But, some noted never seeing it drop, even after hitting extremely high scores and running the strike numerous times.

Week 2 was a new Warmind Nightfall Strike, which drops a very useful rocket launcher. Players farmed the strike as usual and those that were dedicated enough actually got the drop. No issue there.

Last week was similar to Week 1 in that the Nightfall exclusive (a ghost shell) is not as coveted, but players still noted a lack of drops. Presumably, if a fireteam is going for the high score leaderboards they should at least see a few ghost shells drop, but a theory arose that Bungie lowered drop rates with Warmind.

So now, four weeks after the launch of Warmind, when players are very interested in grinding the DFA hand cannon, the bug is finally identified. Could it be related to the low drop rates for catalysts? Possibly, but this is certainly a major blow to the avid Destiny 2 collectors out there who are going to have to wait until the Nightfall Strike circles back to Tree of Probabilities again.

Destiny 2: Warmind is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
