When Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee were announced, some fans were understandably disappointed. After all, Nintendo and Game Freak promised full-blown, core entries in the Pokemon RPG series, and while the Let’s Go games have potential, it’s no secret that they’re aimed at the more casual, Pokemon GO crowd. Luckily, a pair of core Pokemon RPGs are in development for release in late 2019 on the Switch, and while details are scarce, fans can rest assured knowing the games will introduce “a lot” of new Pokemon to the franchise.
This is according to Tsunekazu Ishihara, the president and CEO of The Pokemon Company. The introduction of new Pokemon in 2019 should satisfy those disappointed that the Let’s Go games will be sticking to the original 151 (for the most part), though we’re likely a year or so away before the new creatures are revealed to the world.
Ishihara also touched on other things the Pokemon games on Switch will bring to the table in 2019. According to Ishihara, the games will be aimed at “experienced fans” of the Pokemon franchise, and will also feature a visual upgrade when compared to previous games in the series.
-The late 2019 Pokemon game will be different from Let's Go; not entry-level but aimed for experienced fans
-Same hands-on feel as before, better visual quality
-We want to provide brand-new game where you meet lots of new Pokemonhttps://t.co/PYY25IWXEH pic.twitter.com/LhlUpDsUd9

Overall, it sounds like Game Freak knows what hardcore Pokemon fans want from the next core entries on the Switch, and so those disappointed by the Let’s Go games should have something to look forward to next year. Not only will players have “a lot” of new Pokemon to catch, but the games will presumably have traditional online features like Wonder Trade that won’t be seen in the Let’s Go titles as well.
The allure of new Pokemon may be a big draw for the Pokemon Switch games coming in 2019, but it’s worth pointing out that the Pokemon Let’s Go titles will be introducing at least one new creature. Players will be able to unlock a brand new Pokemon in Pokemon GO by linking it with Pokemon Let’s Go, and while we know nothing about this Pokemon, it’s still an exciting prospect.
Pokemon will launch for the Nintendo Switch in late 2019.
