When developer Bungie revealed Destiny 2: Forsaken this week, it also talked about the game’s Annual Pass that gives players access to new endgame content and challenges during its second year. Today in its weekly blog update, Bungie revealed that part of that endgame content will include more raid lairs over the course of the year across three content drops.
Destiny 2: Forsaken promises a new raid with the DLC’s release, a raid that Bungie says contains more bosses than any other raid the developer has ever made. During the reveal of Forsaken, The Dreaming City was shown off and described as the location where the raid and endgame content would take place.
With the announcement of more raid lairs, the potential and reality of The Dreaming City is coming into focus. Bungie said that The Dreaming City, which in the lore is the birthplace of the Awoken race, will change across the lifespan of Destiny 2. Developers said that the version of The Dreaming City that exists at the launch of Forsaken will not be the same weeks later. They also said that this was a destination that would serve as the location for a number of endgame adventures.
It’s probably safe to assume that raid lairs will also take place within The Dreaming City location. Bungie did not reveal how many raid lairs there will be in Year 2, but judging by the fact that there will be three “premium content releases” as Bungie is calling them, there could be up to three different raid lairs over the course of the next year. In Year 1, a raid lair launched with each of the expansions, totaling two raid lairs for the year.
The three content drops players can expect are Black Armory in winter 2018, Joker’s Wild in spring 2019, and Penumbra in summer 2019. The Annual Pass can currently be purchased bundled with Forsaken for $70 US for both (Forsaken by itself is $40 US).
Destiny 2: Forsaken releases on September 4, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
