Bungie Details Destiny 2 Annual Pass Content

Bungie Details Destiny 2 Annual Pass Content

Destiny 2’s Forsaken DLC comes with a slew of changes to the Destiny <experience, and one new facet is the Annual Pass, which left fans with more questions than answers. The Annual Pass, at first glance, seems to be year two’s equivalent for Destiny 2’s expansion pass, but it comes with three content packs instead of two. However, in the This Week At Bungie blog post, Bungie detailed what fans can expect from the Annual Pass following the launch of Forsaken.

According to Bungie, the Annual Pass will include three premium content releases: Black Armory in Winter 2018, Joker’s Wild in Spring 2019, and Penumbra in Summer 2019. These content packs will come with more activities, more gear to collect, new and returning exotics, more endgame challenges, raid lairs, and more lore to find throughout the game.

Fans were worried that seasonal events would be tied to the Annual Pass, but it appears that special and seasonal events, like the Faction Rally event, will be available to all Destiny 2 owners. Quality of life updates and new Crucible maps and game modes will also be available for everyone as well.

The infographic also breaks down the major changes coming with Forsaken. These include the new Gambit game mode, new story, new levels and power, new subclass paths and supers, and much more. The mention of story here, but not in the Annual Pass breakdown, may hint that the development team may move away from narrative-driven story and more toward lore-finding and environmental storytelling. The Destiny universe has rich, dense lore, so more of that in-game can be a great thing for the game.

While the length of the three content packs is not stated in the update, they may be similar to what fans called “The Taken Spring,” a free update to Destiny following the release of The Taken King DLC. The Taken Spring added a new endgame challenge, another strike, and more missions to complete. It may be a bit too short for some fans, but hopefully, Bungie will give more details on these content packs in the near future.

Destiny 2: Forsaken will launch on September 4, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
