Friday has returned once more and for Destiny 2 players, it means the exotic merchant Xur has arrived with a new set of gear for purchase. Players looking to complete their exotic collections should head his way to start spending hard earned Legendary Shards on his armor sets, his Warmind specific exotic weapon, and his weekly consumables. Here’s a rundown on where to find Xur as well as what he’s offering for June 8.
While the Flashpoint for this week is currently set on the paid DLC planet of Mercury, Xur has set up shop in the Tower once again so all Destiny 2 players can access his wares. Fortunately, he always heads to the same spot, so players should head to the left side of The Tower after loading in, run down into the Hanger and head left past the Dead Orbit crew. Xur is hanging out on a platform right behind Arach Jalaal overlooking the vast open air of Earth.
Unfortunately for Warmind players, none of the class-specific armor pieces come from the latest expansion and are instead classic Destiny 2 items. The Dragon’s Shadow is the Hunter’s choice this week, Titans can purchase the Peacekeepers, an item that would go particularly well with the exotic weapon this week, while Warlocks can pick up the Transversive Steps, a solid PvP choice.
For PvP players, the Transversive Steps are available for Warlocks. These exotic boots feature the Strange Protractor perk, which increases movement speed and automatically reloads the player’s energy weapon while sprinting. For Warlocks, these boots are one of the better exotic items for them, especially in Trials and the Crucible.
Hunters also have a solid option this week with The Dragon’s Shadow chest armor. Featuring high resilience, its exotic perk, known as Wraithmail Metal, will reload all weapons and increase movement and weapon handling speeds for a brief time after dodging. It’s an easy recommendation for aggressive Crucible players, getting in close and using the Hunter’s dodge mechanic often.
Things don’t fare quite as well for Titans this week. For Titan players who are heavy SMG users, the Peacekeepers boots are a no-brainer choice. The exotic perk Mecha Holster auto reloads holstered SMG weapons and allows players to ready them instantly. These boots are also a great option for players picking up the exotic weapon this week. Unfortunately, these boots are pretty situational and not highly recommended.
The lone new Warmind item this week is actually the exotic weapon. For June 8, Xur has brought along The Huckleberry, a fast firing exotic submachine gun. Not only does this weapon have a very ornate look and feel to it, its exotic perk can actually make the weapon even more frenetic. Known as Ride the Bull, pulling and holding the trigger increases the fire rate and recoil of the weapon. However, earning a kill with it will also refill part of the magazine making this weapon capable of streaming a hail of bullets. Combined with the increased damage provided by Rampage, this submachine gun can certainly pack a punch.
Of course, Xur also has his typical selection of consumable items as well, including the Fated Engram, Three of Coins, and the Five of Swords. Nightfall players should take an interest in the Five of Swords, as it enables them to increase or decrease the Nightfall difficulty through various modifiers. Increasing the score multiplier can be achieved through enabling various modifiers such as elemental singes, which not only make the mission more challenging but also increase the chance for better loot at the end.
