It’s an exciting week to be a video game fan as the annual event known as E3 is in full swing in Los Angeles, California. While developers and publishers have been revealing new content left and right, Bungie has taken the opportunity to detail and show off a bit more of the upcoming expansion for Destiny 2 known as Forsaken. With the new mode called Gambit at the show, a new story trailer gives fans a somber look at the beginning of the game.
During the PlayStation E3 2018 press conference, Bungie released a shocking new cinematic trailer for the game with a beat up and broken Cayde-6 kneeling at the mercy of a hooded figure. As fans later find out, the former Awoken prince, Uldren, takes Cayde’s Ace of Spades hand cannon and kills the exo before walking off with his Prison of Elders army.
Int he meantime, a new week has begun in Destiny 2, bringing plenty of fresh content to players to work through as well as announcing the victory of Dead Orbit for the first round of season 3 Faction Rallies. As always, we’ve put together a complete guide for all of the new content waiting for players starting today including the Nightfall strike, Flashpoint location, Leviathan Raid order, treasure chests, and much more.
Nightfall Strike: Will of the Thousands
Nightfall Reward: Coming soon.
Warmind players will be familiar with this Nightfall as it’s the final story mission from the latest campaign. Unfortunately, this also means that non-expansion pass owners won’t have a Nightfall mission for this week which certainly hurts when trying to reach the new level cap through better gear.
The mission opens with players venturing into the Alton Dynamo to overload Rasputin’s Core which in turn will further power the Valkyrie. The mission itself is combat heavy with plenty of icy Hive to shatter. Players will need to defend two areas in the mission against waves of hives before advancing to the big boss fight that takes place on Hellas View.
The final battle is with the worm god himself, Xol. Its weak spot is in the center of its mouth, but players can damage the creature by just shooting at it. There’s plenty of cover to hide behind to regenerate health, but keep in mind that Hive will interrupt the fight. Xol also has a number of attacks to be aware of which includes a fire projectile, covering the ground in void energy, and using a damaging melee attack for players within range. It will also crawl over a section of the room, so make sure to continue to move to avoid it. Make sure to use the Valkyrie when prompted for major damage.
Flashpoint Location: European Dead Zone
This week, players will need to head to the European Dead Zone and complete public events that often appear to complete the Flashpoint milestone. Make sure to trigger heroic modifiers to not only earn more rewards, but to finish the weekly quest a little faster than normal. Once complete, return to the doomed Cayde-6 at the Tower to earn an engram with powerful gear.
Treasure chests are back within vanilla Destiny 2, giving all players another chance to grab the maps and hopefully secure exotic loot. By now players should be aware that isn’t always the case as treasure loot ranges from lesser rare gear to the more interesting exotic engrams or emblems. Tio get started, purchase the five maps through Cayde at the Tower. Upon returning to the EDZ, little spade icons appear on the minimap, indicating the location of a treasure chest.
Here are the general treasure locations in the EDZ:
The weekly refresh also changes up the Leviathan Raid encounter order, keeping the experience fresh for veteran players while also helping newer players who may not have been able to play through the entire encounter.
The aptly named Gauntlet holds the challenge for the week of June 12 in the Leviathan Raid. Players who are stuck or need some details on how to finish it, should consult our guide for tips, tricks, and a general walkthrough of what to do.
Raid order for June 12:
Call to Arms – Win glory by participating, getting kills, and finishing PvP matches from any of the Crucible PvP playlists. Finish the milestone and return to Shaxx to earn his weekly engram.
Weekly Crucible Playlist – Rumble
Heroic Strikes – Complete 3 heroic strikes.
For players looking for more of a challenge when playing strikes, the Heroic Strikes playlist is the way to go in Destiny 2. Players above the minimum recommended power level of 350 have an opportunity to score better loot at the end of the mission. Complete three of these this week to earn a powerful loot engram.
And that’s all for this week. Good luck, Guardians!
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
