It’s once again Friday which means the exotic merchant Xur has arrived with a new set of gear for Destiny 2 players to purchase. Xur remains the best way to not only complete exotic collections but also to get quick access to some of the new Warmind gear in exchange for some spare Legendary Shards. Here’s a rundown on where to find Xur as well as what he’s offering from June 15 until June 18.
As players should know, the weekly Flashpoint milestone is currently set within the European Dead Zone, which means Xur has set up shop there too. Players can find the mysterious NPC hanging out in his usual spot in Winding Cove, just a short climb away from the fast travel point. Players can find him hanging out on a ledge overlooking the open space where public events typically take place. Consult the minimap for his icon and exact location.
His inventory this week is stocked with armor from each phase of Destiny 2, from vanilla to Curse of Osiris to the most recent release, Warmind. Hunters get the newest item this week with the Sealed Ahamkara Grasps, while Warlocks can pick up the very popular The Stag helmet, and Titans have access to the Actium War Rig chest armor.
Re-introduced into Destiny 2 as part of the Curse of Osiris expansion, The Stag helmet remains one of the most popular items a Warlock can own. This is especially true for PvP players, as The Stag’s exotic perk, Dearly Departed, is a fantastic tool for the entire team. When the wearer is critically wounded, the helmet grants increased rift energy and when they are killed a healing rift is left in their place. In an elimination style match or Trials of the Nine, this healing rift comes in handy.
The Warmind specific item for this week goes to Hunters, who are also getting a Destiny 1 item that is making its return. The Sealed Ahamkara Grasps feature the Nightmare Fuel exotic perk, which reloads the player’s currently equipped weapon when they take melee damage. It may not be the flashiest or strongest Hunter exotic and can be somewhat situational with its requirement, but it’s unlikely that anyone would complain about getting an automatic reload after a melee hit.
Titan players can pick up the Actium War Rig, an exotic chest piece that’s been available since day 1. Still, for those who may not already have it, the armor comes with a very valuable exotic perk called Auto-Loading Link that steadily reloads a portion of the wearer’s equipped auto rifle. When combined with a strong auto rifle such as Sweet Business, Origin Story, or Winter Wolf, players will be able to fire longer than the normal opponent can.
As for Xur’s exotic weapon, the Tractor Cannon shotgun is available to go with its recently introduced masterwork catalyst. Initially viewed as a joke weapon, the Tractor Cannon isn’t quite as bad as people may initially think for PvP, even with its limited range. Resembling something out of Portal, the Tractor Cannon comes with the exotic perk Repulsor Force which shoots a blast that pushes enemies away, suppresses their abilities, and makes them more vulnerable to Void damage.
Of course, Xur also has his typical selection of consumable items as well, including the Fated Engram, Three of Coins, and the Five of Swords. Nightfall players should take an interest in the Five of Swords, as it enables them to increase or decrease the Nightfall difficulty through various modifiers. Increasing the score multiplier can be achieved by enabling various modifiers such as elemental singes, which not only make the mission more challenging but also increase the chance for better loot at the end.
