As the dust settles from the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, gamers have been left with quite a lot to think about when weighing up whether or not they want to buy a Nintendo Switch. One of the more unsurprising, although pleasant, titles featured during the showcase was the previously-unnamed Kirby project that was revealed during E3 2017, and with its presence came a handful of new details on the game, an official title, and a release window.
Those hoping to avoid calling it “Kirby (Untitled)” can now refer to the forthcoming Switch game as Kirby: Star Allies. Furthermore, gamers can now anticipate which season the co-operative title will arrive at retailers in, as Nintendo confirmed that it will be releasing in Spring 2018. Of course, the presentation that revealed these details also featured additional gameplay of the title, demonstrating that Kirby‘s four-player premise has remained intact.
Nintendo has yet to upload its own, edited version of the footage, but GameXplain was kind enough to upload the entirety of the Kirby: Star Allies portion of the Direct. It can be found below:
As one of the more bizarre bosses featured within the footage, a buff King Dedede has also taken the Kirby fan base by storm. The traditionally pudgy frenemy appears to have been hitting the gym, which makes for a much different type of on-screen battle with the reoccurring antagonist than many had likely been anticipating.
As one of many games shown off during the Direct, Kirby: Star Allies was accompanied by the likes of Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and the rather surprising reveal that Bethesda’s DOOM and Wolfenstein 2: The Old Colossus will be arriving on Nintendo Switch in due time.
All in all, there appears to be plenty of content for all ages arriving on the newer platform, with Kirby making for a nice exclusive for anyone looking to saddle up with three friends to explore Dream World together.
Kirby: Star Allies will arrive exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2018.
