Destiny 2: New Time to Kill Stats for All Weapon Classes

Destiny 2‘s Update 1.1.4 is now live in the game with a big focus for this “Go Fast” Update (as it was coined) being a number of sandbox changes. Among them were adjustments to multiple weapon archetypes and classes. For those weapons that were changed, they now have updated time to kill stats.

Thanks to a dedicated Destiny 2 fan who ran tests on the weapons, we have these numbers to review. That fan, Mercules904, posted an entire spreadsheet on the Destiny subreddit, going into detail of each weapon class and archetype, breaking it down to how fast each archetype can kill with the fewest amount of shots (optimal) and how long it takes to kill if all the shots are body shots. Check out the spreadsheet with all the data here.

Here are the highlights of the changes and what is most effective according to this fan-gathered data:

Many of the buffs in Update 1.1.4 now allow many weapons to kill in one less shot or else a different combination of headshots and body shots. Especially in the case of something like the Adaptive archetype of pulse rifles (Last Perdition, Swift Ride), the time to kill improved by about a half second plus the optimal shots are seven headshots and 2 body shots.

Looking at the data, the clear standouts include the exotic Vigilance Wing, which now has a fast .83 second optimal time to kill down from 1.20 seconds and Precision hand cannons (Nature of the Beast, A Cold Sweat, West of Sunfall 7), which dropped from 1.33 second optimal time to kill to 1.00. Other archetypes looking good from the data are Adaptive Autio Rifles (Scathelocke, Ghost Primus) and Precision Scout Rifles (Metronome-52, Nameless Midnight).

Keep in mind that this data is based on perfect optimal conditions of landing every shot perfectly, so those points of time to kill are not going to be completely true in an actual Crucible match. But at least the data shows the potential lethality of each weapon.

Destiny 2 and its Curse of Osiris expansion are available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
