It’s once again Friday which means the exotic merchant Xur has arrived with a new set of gear for Destiny 2 players to purchase. Xur remains the best way to not only complete exotic collections with the weekly Fated Engram but also to get easy access to new Warmind gear in exchange for Legendary Shards. Here’s a rundown on where to find Xur as well as what he’s offering from June 22 until he heads back home on June 22.
With the weekly Flashpoint milestone located on the Warmind DLC planet Mars, Xur has once again taken up residence within the Tower. The merchant can be found hanging out behind Dead Orbit’s Arach Jalaal on a small catwalk. After loading into The Tower, head left and follow the path into the hangar. Stay on the ground level, run left past Jalaal’s Dead Orbit area, and find a set of starts towards the back overlooking the edge. As always, consult the minimap for Xur’s exact location.
For the week of June 22, Xur is once again offering one exotic piece from each of the phases of Destiny 2: the launch set, Curse of Osiris set, and the Warmind set. Titans are getting the Warmind exotic this week; the recently re-added Armamentarium chest piece is now available. The Curse of Osiris exotic goes to Hunters, who can pick up the Graviton Forfeit helm, while Warlocks are looking at the vanilla Destiny 2 exotic Skull of Dire Ahamkara helm.
Longtime Destiny players should be plenty familiar with the Armamentarium, which has seen multiple variations over the series history. For Destiny 2, the chest armor features the exotic perk And Another Thing, which gives Titans one extra grenade charge. Compared to other Titan exotics, the Armamentarium isn’t the most impressive or unique item, though there are worse perks than having an extra grenade handy.
Similar to the Armamentarium, the Graviton Forfeit is another item longtime armor piece that Destiny players should be very familiar with. In Destiny 2, the helm comes with the Vanishing Shadow perk. This perk increases the length of any invisibility effects, while also increasing the melee recharge while invisible. While not the most useful item for Crucible combat after a nerf to tracking, players have found a lot of success with it on the PvE side of the game, especially when trying to solo certain Nightfall strikes.
Finally, the Skull of Dire Ahamkara helm can be purchased for Warlock players this week. While it’s likely an item that most players have at this point, it remains a very strong item for Voidwalkers. With the exotic Actual Grandeur perk, players gain additional damage resistance while launching a Nova Bomb. In addition, any kills earned with the Nova Bomb also provide super energy. It’s a very strong item for PvE and PvP, so it’s a must buy for Warlocks who don’t have it.
Xur’s exotic weapon this week is The Colony grenade launcher. While looking innocuous enough on the outside, this weapon hides a very deadly ability. Thanks to its exotic perk, Insectoid Robot Grenades, the weapon fires grenades that are actually insectoid robots. Once fired, these devices chase enemy targets and explode at close range. As if that isn’t enough, when holstered, the gun refills its magazine as well. Even with the low popularity of most grenade launchers, The Colony remains a very popular choice for players, especially in the Crucible. As such, it’s easy to recommend this week.
Of course, Xur also has his typical selection of consumable items as well, including the Fated Engram, Three of Coins, and the Five of Swords. Nightfall players should take an interest in the Five of Swords, as it enables them to increase or decrease the Nightfall difficulty through various modifiers. Increasing the score multiplier can be achieved by enabling various modifiers such as elemental singes, which not only make the mission more challenging but also increase the chance for better loot at the end.
