Fortnite update 4.5 is now live for both its Save the World and Battle Royale modes, bringing with it a multitude of new features and additions. One of these that may excite fans is the addition of a new weapon, the dual pistols, to the Battle Royale mode, which follows other exciting weapons such as the Burst Assault Rifle.
The dual pistols are dubbed “double the firepower and fun” by the Fortnite developer, Epic Games, and it’ll definitely be interesting to see how this weapon changes up the metagame. Interesting kills are often obtained with new introductions to the battle royale game, such as suicide charges with Clingers or Shopping Cart jousts, but it remains to be seen if anything as interesting can be obtained with this newest pair of weapons.
Stat-wise, the dual pistols have a base damage of 41-43 and is available in Epic and Legendary variants. It’ll use medium ammo and both pistols will be fired with one pull of the trigger. Notably, though, it does not use first shot accuracy. It can also be found from floor loot, chests, and supply drops.
Although the addition of the dual pistols is a major change in the 4.5 update, there’s also a lot of other features present, such as the introduction of the Playground LTM or the implementation of map markers. Of course, the Save the World mode isn’t ignored either, as this update adds the finale of the Blockbuster event and the Builder Pro controller layout.
As far as weapon changes go, players can expect to see tweaks to the weapon structure damage (now scaling to rarity), shotgun damage to structures, explosions, the tactical SMG, the silenced SMG, and the grenade launcher, which now shoots fireworks as a cosmetic-only change. Since Fortnite has been wanting to add multiple ways to counter an opponent to create a higher variety of ways to obtain a Victory Royale, it’ll be interesting to see how the dual pistols and the aforementioned changes play into that.
Fortnite is available now for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
