A popular feature in many battle royale games is the limited time mode (LTM) that slightly twists the rules of the game. Now, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds‘ PC Version is bringing back one of its popular LTMs, the War Mode, but with some new variations from the original. One key change is that this LTM is now occurring on Sanhok where it previously occurred on Erangel.
Beginning July 5 at 7pm PDT and ending on July 8 at 7pm PDT, this War Mode will feature 5 10-man squads, whereas the previous PUBG iteration featured 3 10-man squads. However, the basic rules are the same, as each match occurs in a small safe zone located in a specific area, the first team to reach 200 points (or the highest scoring team at the end of the time limit) will be declared the winner, and the killer spectating option and red zone are both disabled.
Under the Huntsmen and Marksmen event rules which differ slightly from the original LTM, players will spawn with a shotgun, handgun, frag grenade, and bandages, with care packages dropping every 110 seconds that contain DMRs, SRs, and other powerful items. Eliminating an enemy earns a team 3 points, knockdowns 1 point, and players respawn in planes every 30 seconds.
Considering PUBG’s Sanhok map went live about two weeks ago, many PC players may be delighted to give the map a spin with these new rules. War Mode was well-received in Erangel, so it’ll be interesting to see how these variations affect this returning LTM.
One thing PC players may be relieved to hear, concerning Sanhok and the War Mode LTM, is that the PUBG development team recently patched out an exploit that was allowing players to completely disappear and get the jump on opponents. That bug would have been devastating to the freshness brought to the popular battle royale game by this LTM, but luckily, PUBG was looking out. Now War Mode will be a more level playing field for battle royale players to test their skills.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now for Android, iOS, PC, and Xbox One.
