Bethesda VP Talks Elder Scrolls: Legends on Consoles

Digital card game The Elder Scrolls: Legends recently released its House of Morrowind expansion at the end of March and now it seems there may be another reason to get excited about the title. As it turns out, the game may be coming to other platforms, according to Bethesda’s Vice President of Marketing Pete Hines in a recent interview.

When talking to DualShockers, Pete was asked about possibly seeing The Elder Scrolls: Legends release on other platforms besides mobile and PC at some point in the future. No official confirmation was given on whether or not console ports are in the works, but he did make it sound like it was something Bethesda is interested in looking into. Plenty of Bethesda’s other titles have been ported to multiple consoles, including remastered versions of Skyrim for PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, as well as the Switch port of Doom.

“Honestly I think everything is on the table. At the end of the day — and this is true for every game, not just Legends — we like to try and get our games to as many platforms as possible, so that as many people as possible have the option to play.”

For those unaware of what The Elder Scrolls: Legends is, it’s a digital card game along the lines of Gwent or Hearthstone. Just like those titles, it allows players to build decks by purchasing or earning in-game booster packs and then use those decks to either play through a single player campaign or take on other players online. The main difference, of course, is that it takes place in the Elder Scrolls universe.

While Hearthstone has yet to see a release on consoles, other digital card games, like Gwent have made their way to those platforms. Digital card games themselves are seemingly becoming more popular, with Hi-Rez Studios making one based off its MOBA, Smite, called Smite: Hand of the Gods, which is also available on PC and consoles. Wizards of the Coast, who created the original tabletop trading card game Magic: The Gathering is even getting in on the craze. The company is working on a new digital version of its popular card game called Magic: The Gathering Arena, currently in closed beta on PC.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends was released on PC and mobile in 2017 and has already seen a few expansions since it launched. Most recently was the aforementioned House of Morrowind expansion, along with Heroes of Skyrim, which came out last year.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends is currently available on mobile for Android and iOS, as well as PC.
