Fortnite is not just the most popular battle royale game in the world. On the contrary, it also happens to be a great tool for asking your girlfriend to prom.
Reddit user Navypython asked his girlfriend to prom in Fortnite by utilizing the game’s building mechanics. Navypython spelled “PROM?” in large letters, first concealing the proposal behind a wall of wooden planks. Navypython was able to capture footage of his creative stunt just before the storm claimed his life, finishing 14th overall.
According to Navypython, this stunt took about 15 tries before he was able to pull it off successfully. In order to amass the building materials necessary, Navypython and his partner repeatedly landed at Moisty Mire and Wailing Woods, two locations in the game known for their plentiful wood supply.

In the title of the Reddit post, Navypython notes that his girlfriend liked his promposal, so it’s safe to say that she will in fact be attending the event with him.
Navypython’s Fortnite promposal is a creative way to ask someone to prom, but it’s not the first time video games have been used like this. In fact, there are countless examples of people using video games in a similar matter, mainly as a way to ask someone for their hand in marriage.
One example that comes to mind is when BioWare built a special Mass Effect level for one fan to ask her girlfriend to marry her. In another instance, a fan used Super Mario Maker‘s level-creation tools to make a marriage proposal in a video that has over 6 million views at the time of this writing.
In the meantime, here’s hoping that Navypython’s prom night is a success, and it will be interesting to see if other fans utilize Fortnite in creative ways moving forward.
Fortnite is available now in early access on iOS, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
