In the trailer, we get to see more of Ethan from Resident Evil 7 — as well as series mainstay Chris Redfield. Like the previous trailer, it seems that Chris is being portrayed in a more sinister, villainous light. It will be interesting to see where that goes story-wise. We also get to see more of the werewolves that are heavily featured in the game as well.
Once again the mysterious cult with very similar vibes to the cult from Resident Evil 4 shows up, and their symbol even features the Las Plagas parasite. During the trailer we see something very visually interesting that we have never experienced in a Resident Evil game before. A very Coraline-type animation sequence plays out, telling the story Mia, Ethan’s wife. You (canonically) save her at the end of Resident Evil 7. It’s clear the last game casts a shadow on Resident’ Evil Village‘s narrative.
Got some games on sale, stranger…
The trailer ends with a mysterious merchant-type figure, one who is very similar to the merchant from Resident Evil 4. Well, if he put on a few pounds, that is. This Resident Evil Village trailer is doubling down on the similarities of Resident Evil 4, something that was already quite prevalent in the debut trailer. We might even see Leon come back in this new entry. He needs redemption considering his last appearance was in the much-maligned Resident Evil 6.
As of now, Resident Evil Village is slated to release sometime next year. A more specific date was not given, but as soon as we know, you will.
