You will definitely want to head over to the game’s community board on Steam to read specific details for yourself. We can tell you what to generally expect out of the game in its latest version though. The most obvious thing players should notice is that multiple cinematics are now improved. That includes animation fixes to improperly displayed scenes, polish to existing animations, and several reshot cutscenes for better cinematics. There are also a lot of quality-of-life improvements like properly displayed icons and more explanations for gameplay actions and rules. Players should also see some performance improvements due to some audio optimizations.
Aside from these improvements, there are plenty of crash fixes now implemented. If you encountered any events that seemingly failed to trigger, the latest update will hopefully set things straight. This list of patch notes is on the slightly larger side, so it should deliver much better results than the prior hotfixes Larian delivered post-release.
Of course it wouldn’t be much of a community update without some fun thrown in. It turns out that Larian keeps track of all our actions, though probably not in the creepy Facebook way. In this case, it shared some statistics on how fans choose to play the game. The decisions people make are generally well intended, which proves the timeless mantra that good triumphs over evil. However, people are also weird. That’s okay. We’re not sure what sucking toes has to do with acquiring a magic ring, but 26.3% of players were all for it.
Likewise, romance options tend to run strong. Gale and Shadowheart tend to make players weak in the knees, amounting to 64% of all romances. The margins are tight between the two, but Gale is the main squeeze. It also seems that nobody wants to be alone. Well, okay 1.58% of players prefer to sleep alone. Or maybe they are all for romance, but just prefer extra space in bed. For comfort.
There are some other fun stats, but we won’t spoil any of the story for you. Once you play some of the game, you might fancy taking a look though. We can provide you with some critical information though about furry friends though. Over 400k have decided to pet the dog. Please follow suit. We’re not asking.
Hopefully, Larian continues to provide us with regular patch notes and these fun hints at what players do in Baldur’s Gate 3, but that’s it for this community update. There will be many more, so we’ll keep you posted as more things change. This is an Early Access game after all, so there will be many of those.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on Steam for $59.99 USD.
