This port of the famed RPG has spent nearly two years in development by a development team known as Elverils, who have worked towards creating a 1:1 experience in parity with the version seen on PC and consoles.
This means the entire Divinity: Original Sin 2 experience can now be played on your iPad without any compromise to its visuals or gameplay, recreating the experience first seen on PC and consoles but now on another handheld device.
The game has been rebuilt from the ground up, taking advantage of the latest Apple hardware, and comes with some optimisations to ensure the experience is smooth on these devices. This includes touch control support, with a new user interface to match, but also includes gamepads and even keyboard and mouse.
In order to match the ambition of Divinity: Original Sin 2’s original targets, the iOS version of the game runs on graphics settings equivalent to ‘Highest’ on iPad Pro (2018) and above. On the 2021 iPad Pro (M1), it runs at 60fps too, even in local co-op, and features seamless split-screen and the game’s popular drop-in, drop-out co-op gameplay. Finally, this version of the game also has cross-play with PC and Mac, meaning you can go on adventures with your friends who may be playing on other platforms. There’s also cross-save too, allowing you to pick up where you left off on Mac.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is available now from the iOS App Store, where it is a paid title which costs $24.99 and includes all Gift Bag DLCs.
