Fazeer’s Dun’djinn guide — Challenge mechanic rules & tips

As you make your way through Torchlight III’s third act and defeat the campaign’s final boss, you’ll eventually gain access to Fazeer’s Dun’djinn. This is pretty much Torchlight III‘s endgame activity. Here’s our guide to help you out.

Torchlight III guide: The Fazeer’s Dun’djinn endgame

Unlocking the dungeon

As mentioned earlier, all you need to do is beat Torchlight III‘s final boss. When you’re done, you’re told to speak with General Graye in Echo Landing. From here, you’ll need to return to Trevail Point to speak with a Mysterious Stranger who’ll give you Fazeer’s Dun’djinn as an item.

Head over to your fort and place the structure. This will give you access to Fazeer’s Dun’djinn itself.

Fazeer’s Dun’djinn challenge mechanics

So, how exactly does Fazeer’s Dun’djinn work? Well, for starters, you’re shown several numbers. These are the “challenge levels.” When you click on one, you’re given a set of three cards. Each card presents you with specific mobs, locations (i.e., tilesets or biomes), and modifiers. Below, you’ll see an example of some of the modifiers.

Regarding mobs and biomes, these are the same denizens and locations you’ve seen throughout Torchlight III‘s campaign. For instance, one might have you battling against the undead in a forest while another tasks you with taking out Hyvid insects in a cavern.

You’re also given tasks while you’re dungeoneering, such as killing a certain number of mobs or picking up those purple quest items that they drop.

After completing the objective, you’ll have to find the doorway to the next area. Here, you’ll battle any of Torchlight III‘s bosses (usually the ones you’ve encountered in regular maps and dungeons).

Note: If you die while in Fazeer’s Dun’djinn, your challenge level goes down by one rank. Be careful and try to stay alive as much as possible.

When you finish a number of challenge levels or tiers, an extra modifier will be applied to the next set of challenges (i.e., 4 to 7, 8 to 11, and so on). Likewise, the encounter for the last challenge level in a set usually involves an arena boss.

You won’t need to go through a short dungeon or biome anymore, it’s just the boss fight itself. These are still the same bosses you’ve defeated during Torchlight III‘s campaign, so no worries there. Examples of bosses include Wideload, Brall, Sadista, Strongtusk, Shriekbeak, and others.

Torchlight III‘s endgame loop

That’s basically how Torchlight III‘s endgame loop goes. You clear challenge levels, each with countless mobs. Then, you eliminate the boss in the final room. For the final challenge level in the set, you take out another boss. All of this happens while you contend with various modifiers.

That sounds entertaining, at least on paper. However, as mentioned in our official review, I did find this endgame loop a bit bland. There really was no further motivation to keep me playing and grinding onward.

It should be mentioned that we’ve seen the same mechanics via the MapWorks Dungeons. Portals spawned by the phase beasts spotted while completing the game. Those directly pitted you against bosses with no dungeon trekking or modifiers just lots of loot to grab. Still, if the Fazeer’s Dun’djinn activity in Torchlight III keeps you engaged, then more power to you.
