Prevention measures
“In light of the unprecedented events facing the world, we have been forced to postpone the launch of the game,” Cradle Games creative director Matt Boudreau said. “We plan to use the additional development time not just for polishing, but also to address the feedback we’ve gathered and make Hellpoint an even better gaming experience for everybody! The feedback of the community had such enthusiasm and energy.”
The game is now slated for a June release, instead of the original April 16 date, on Steam.
Souls in space
Not unlike The Surge 2, Hellpoint is leaning hard into its futuristic setting. Expect the same grittiness and horror elements that are part and parcel of the Souls DNA (and of Event Horizon). The game takes place on board the Irid Novo, a derelict space station soaked in an intoxicating dark sci-fi atmosphere. Unfortunately for us, “cruel interdimensional entities acting as puppets of the malevolent Cosmic Gods” have overrun the station. Your job is to find out the “unholy series of events that led to the catastrophic incident known as the Merge.”
Irid Novo is a massive, interconnected place full of mysteries, secrets, and hidden passages. The freedom to explore will be yours, although danger will certainly lurk at every corner. Our preview of the game goes into depth about what you can expect.
The biggest selling point for Hellpoint is that of the Quantic system. The game world will be adjusted each time you die. Events will also be triggered based on the station’s 21-hour rotation around a black hole.
