Pokémon Go Fest 2021 celebrates the fifth anniversary of Pokémon Go and is themed around music.

If you purchase a ticket, you’ll be able to add a new mythical Pokémon to your Pokédex and have the opportunity to catch either Pikachu Rock Star or Pikachu Pop Star.

This page covers everything you need to know about Go Fest 2021, including the time and date, ticket price and an overview of the event itself.

Pokémon Go Fest 2021 activities explained

Pokémon Go Fest 2021 is spread out across two days and each one offers you a variety of activities and bonuses, which means you need to play Pokémn Go on both Saturday and Sunday to enjoy the full event.

It’s important to note that, while everyone can enjoy Go Fest 2021, a number of bonuses are exclusive to ticketed players. For an overview of the differences between ticketed and free-to-play trainers, have a look at this chart on the official Go Fest 2021 website.

Go Fest 2021 is packed with a variety of activities, with some of the highlights being:

  • Chance to catch the regional Pokémon – Chatot, Thorh and Sawk
  • A special research quest for a new mythical Pokémon
  • New costume Pokémon, including a choice between Pikachu Rock Star and Pikachu Pop Star
  • Return of the Global Challenge Arena
  • New shiny Pokémon

Below you can find everything we currently know about what Go Fest 2021 offers:

Day One – Saturday, 17th July

The first day of Go Fest 2021 will be divided into four different habitat hours – Jungle, Desert Mountain, Ocean Beach and Cave.

Throughout these hours you’ll be able to catch a range of different Pokémon which live in these habitats. Deino and Roggenrola, for example, will appear more frequently during the Cave hours.

Each hour will also have it’s own unique Collection Challenge for you to complete.

If you’ve purchased a Go Fest 2021 ticket, a number of regional Pokémon, alongside Unown F and G, will also be attracted to Incense during these hours, which is perfect for completing your Pokédex.

Chatot will only be attracted to Incense during the Jungle hours, while Thorh will appear if you use Incense in the Desert Mountain hours. Sawk, finally, will appear during the Ocean Beach hours.

You can catch the regional Pokémon Chatot, Thorh and Sawk if you purchase a Go Fest 2021 ticket.

Since Go Fest 2021 is themed around music, you’ll also be able to find musically inclined Pokemon more frequently in the wild. This includes Chimecho, Kricketot, Audino and a currently unnamed special costumed Pikachu.

Continuing the trend of costume Pokémon – costumed Galarian Ponyta and Galairan Zigzagoon will be available for battle in raids. You’ll also have the chance to battle Hitmontop, Cranidos and, best of all, Deino in raids as well.

Once you’ve caught all the new costume Pokémon, it will be time to start a shiny hunt as Go Fest 2021 will introduce, counting their evolutions, 11 new shiny Pokémon. This includes shiny Whismur, Chimecho, Audino, Tympole, Unown F, Throh and Sawk.

The shiny versions of Chimecho, Audino and Tympole will be released during Go Fest 2021.
Our guess for the Mythical Pokémon debuting in Go Fest 2021 is Meloetta.

Returning to the theme of music, if you purchase a Go Fest 2021 ticket you’ll be able to complete the special research quest, which is all about assisting Professor Willow organise a music festival. During this quest, you’ll be able to make a number of choices which will determine whether you can catch a Pikachu Rock Star or Pikachu Pop Star.

This special research quest will also allow you to add a new mythical Pokémon to your Pokédex and, since Go Fest 2021 is all about music, we think this Pokémon is Meloetta, because it’s literally a living musical note.

Finally, the Global Challenge Arena will return. Here ticketed players from around the world work together to complete hourly challenges which will unlock special bonuses which will be active for the rest of the hour.

Day Two – Sunday, 18th July

The second day of Go Fest 2021 is centred around raiding, with you receiving an additional 10,000 XP for any successfully completed raid.

Don’t worry about running out of raid passes though, because you’ll be able to collect an additional 10 by spinning Gym PokéStops.

If you prefer to raid remotely, however, then there will be a free bundle available in the in-game store, which will reward you with three Remote Raid passes. It’s important to note that this bundle will only be available on Sunday, 18th July during the event hours.

Once you’ve used all of these Remote Raid passes, you can earn another eight by completing the timed research quest.

Finally, you’ll still be able to find all of the Pokémon which were either appearing more frequently in the wild or attracted to Incense from the first day of Go Fest 2021.

Both days

There will be a number of bonuses running throughout both days of Go Fest 2021, such as Lure Modules lasting for three hours and the hatch distance for any egg placed in an incubator during the event being halved.

You’ll have a range of exclusive field research tasks to complete and the egg pool for 7km eggs collected during Go Fest 2021 will hatch Pokémon like Igglybuff, Chingling and Audino.

Hope you enjoy Go Fest 2021!
