Yakuza anniversary live stream to celebrate the franchise & tease its future

The Yakuza franchise has been around for a while now, but it recently became a lot more enjoyable for us PC folks thanks to the way the Like A Dragon launch was handled. We used to be forced to wait for months, clinging to the hope that a PC port would be announced. Sega did no such thing with Like a Dragon though. We received it for PC alongside the console releases. The idea that we can expect future franchise releases without the fear of console timed-exclusivity will be great going forward. It certainly gives us another reason to tune in for the upcoming Yakuza anniversary live stream.

The live stream will take a look back at the Yakuza franchise’s history from the early PlayStation 2 days with protagonist Kazuma to the most recent star, Ichiban. As a special treat, there will be guest appearances by the voice actors of each: Takaya Kuroda and Kazuhiro Nakaya, respectively. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is sure to have plenty more surprises for fans besides that, too.

The single most significant part of the announcement has to be the tease that “future developments” will be discussed for the series. We didn’t get any more information than that, but that’s the fun of finding out for ourselves. Or perhaps not. The live stream is scheduled to take place on December 8 at 6 AM ET. That’s great if you live in Japan like our site director, but a bit inconvenient if you live on the other side of the world.

Fortunately, the live stream will commence via YouTube, so if seeing it live isn’t absolutely crucial to you, you can just catch up when you wake up. We will be sure to report on it as well though, so you can just trek right back over here to PC Invasion for all of the key bits if you don’t want to sit through the whole Yakuza anniversary live stream at the crack of dawn.
